We’re pleased to announce the first major release ofPortfolio Insight for 2022. This release contains a number of major enhancements, including Stock Snapshots, Quick Takes, and Blended Fair Value. We have also added a new member to the Portfolio Insight team along with the release. Prakash Kolli, the author of the Dividend Power blog, brings a wealth of investing experience and will head Research and Analysis at Portfolio Insight. Welcome aboard, Prakash!
Over the last four months, we focused on improving and simplifying our user experience. Portfolio Insight provides a wealth of data and metrics on each security, but we found accessing that data often involved paging through multiple areas of the application. We decided to streamline this by creating a single screen that would present everything an investor needs to assess a stock quickly. Portfolio Insight now has Stock Snapshots, which present ticker vitals in one place:
As you can see from the screenshot above, fair value, 1-year upside, and other key metrics are displayed in an easy-to-follow format. Snapshots are also interactive: the charts to the right showing price history and total returns performance can be expanded and manipulated:
Value investors don’t just look at raw data when assessing a stock. They also need to interpret the data and account for intangibles such as risks. That’s why we introduced Quick Takes. Quick Takes are short, concise reports written by our analysts that provide a quality and risk assessment for a ticker. Quick Takes can be found as part of the Snapshot for select tickers (we plan on expanding our coverage over time):
In keeping with our Snapshot design, Quick Takes are interactive. In the above screenshot, you will notice that Portfolio Insight displays EPS, Revenue, and Dividend history alongside the analysis. These charts can be expanded and manipulated. There’s everything you need in one place – quality narratives backed by data.
We’ve also added an update panel to the Dashboard where you can view and search recent Quick Takes:
Quick Takes mark a new area that Portfolio Insight will be developing this year: high-quality research and analysis for key tickers. Our goal is to differentiate Portfolio Insight analysis in two ways. First, QuickTakes are short and to the point. They cut the fluff and present the essentials so you can make clear decisions. Second, Quick Takes are written by seasoned analysts who themselves are value investors. Our team includes premier dividend investors and a former CEO of a publicly-traded company. Our goal is not to produce content but to provide insightful analysis based on experience and deep understanding.
Over the year, we will be rolling out additional analysis-based features.
Over the past several years, we have spent significant time building out and enhancing Portfolio Insight’s fair value tools. We started with a P/E-based approach and expanded to include dividend channels. We’re now really excited to announce the next generation of our approach: blended fair value. Blended fair value takes all of these inputs, including analyst estimates, and produces what we consider to be the most accurate measure of fair-value and 1-year upside on the market, updated daily. We take this further by combining our calculations with an easy-to-follow interpretation. Here’s the new fair value for AAPL:
